What is Tesla's New Model Y? 

Before we get into its new Model Y, let's break down the Tesla Model Y first. It all started in March 2019, when Tesla revealed its Model Y.  The Model Y was initially launched in the US & Canada. Later on in January 2021, it hit the Chinese market and then launched in Europe and many other countries. 

After several years of updates, in 2022 it became the bestselling EV in the world. 

As of now, Tesla launched the New Model Y in China on 1st October. In China, Tesla has a very productive manufacturing plant for EVs, called Gigafactory in Shanghai. 

Although the new Model Y does not include all of the features that some people were hoping for. It contains very few features and misses the significant changes that most people are looking for. 

What's new in Tesla Model Y (Features of Tesla's New Model Y). 

This refreshed Model Y welcomes a variety of new features in the interior design and exterior design as well.  

Here are the new features: 

• Ambient Lightning. (RGB)

With the help of ambient lighting, users get a very compatible environment to enjoy driving.

• Textile materials on the dashboard. 

Tesla's new Model Y dashboard has been transformed into a textile fabric material, as it replaces the old wooden stuff on the dashboard.

• New Black Gemini Wheels. 

This is my favorite part of Tesla's new Model Y. With the addition of the new 19-inch Black Gemini Wheels, the exterior of this compact SUV looks classy and adorable. 

Yes, it replaces the previous Silver Gemini Wheels. Its broad 19-inch section provides some aerodynamic security that makes this model safer and boosts the overall performance of the car. 

• Improved Acceleration. 

Yes, this time it is a bit faster than the previous one. A speed of 0-60mph can be achieved in just 5.9 seconds. 

The top speed of rear-wheel drive (RWD) is 135 mph (217 km/h). 

The top speed of long-range all-wheel drive (AWD) is the same as RWD, 135 mph (217 km/h). 

For the performance version, the speed is 155 mph (250 km/h). 

However, it's important to understand that the speed or the acceleration depends on some ideal scenarios, like better road surface, nice weather, and many more. 

Btw, its improved acceleration is one of the noteworthy features that make this new Model Y quicker than previous ones. 

However, some reports say that the new Tesla Model Y has Autopilot Hardware 4 (HW4), which is known for its self-driving sensors, but all these speculations faded when Tesla advisors clarified that there is no Hardware 4 in the new Model Y, it is still working on Autopilot Hardware 3.

Tesla's New Model Y: Range & Pricing. 

The range of new Tesla Models Y is: 

For the single motor, rear-wheel drive (RWD), the CLTC range is estimated to be 344 miles (554 km), which is 5 miles (9 km) more than previous ones. 

For the dual-motor, all-wheel drive (AWD), the CLTC range is estimated to be 428 miles (688 km), which is 17 miles (28 km) more than previous ones.

However, the range rating for the performance version, which is also a dual-motor, all-wheel drive, remains the same as previous ones.

The new Tesla Model Y is priced the same as the previous model. Yes, you read it right!

All these features and an improved range will be available on the market at the same price, which is $36,788 (263,900 CNY) for RWD (LFP), $41,806 (299,900 CNY) for long-range AWD, and $48,776 (349,900 CNY) for performance. 

Concluding Tesla's New  Model Y

All these interior and exterior designs and other attractive features create a little hype, however, the new Model Y does not include any major changes.

The reason is Project Juniper, which will be the next big update to Model Y. Many people expected this Project Juniper update, and they got an update (Tesla's new Model Y), but it's not worth it for sure.

Overall, as of now, we have an update in the form of this new Model Y, which was launched in China in October 2023, and a new big update (Project Juniper) exists in the future, expected to be launched in 2024.
